Materials Required
- Baking soda
- Water
- Dish soap
- Scouring pad
- Damp rag
- Dry microfiber cloth
Step 1
Mix the dish soap, baking soda and water to make a paste. We used about 1 cup baking soda, 1 TBSP dish soap and enough water to get the consistency of pancake batter . You might need more if your oven is very dirty or large.
Step 2
Take a spoonful of the batter and spread it over any spots that aren’t clean. To evenly apply it to our oven, We used our fingers to spread it out with our fingers.
Step 3
Start a timer for fifteen minutes, then walk away. You can’t do anything until the timer goes off. We left our oven door open to ensure that no liquid would escape.
Step 4
After 15 minutes, wet scouring pad in the sink. You can then transfer scouring pad to the oven to scrub any spots that were “soaking” for at least 15 minutes. It was amazing how easy most of the spots were to be removed. There were some areas that required some elbow grease, but not many.
Step 5
After you have scrubbed the oven thoroughly, use the scour pad to wipe off as much of the baking soda/soap mix. Then, dump the mixture in the sink. Use a damp rag to clean the rest. It may take some time to get everything up. We had to wipe our oven 4 times and rinse our rag four more times before it was completely gone.
Step 6
To polish the oven, use a microfiber cloth that is either dry or slightly damp. Baking soda can look dull the oven’s appearance so We prefer to clean it with a microfiber cloth.
Your oven will be clean and tidy when you’re done. The best thing is that you didn’t have to do much!
