How To Clean Gunk Around Sink Drain

Do you know the gunk that builds up around your bathroom sink’s drain? It is often a pinkish-colored substance and looks quite nasty.

Here’s a simple way to get rid of it between bathroom cleanings or if it refuses to come off the sink.

Menu

Materials Required

  1. Denture cleaner tablets
  2. Hot water
  3. Microfiber cloth or sponge

Step 1

Turn on the hot water until it reaches the bottom of the sink. When the water is hot, close off the drain.

Step 2

Fill the sink with approximately 1 inch of hot water.

Step 3

Drop the denture cleaning tablet in the sink. It will begin to fizzle, and depending on which brand it is, turn blue or green. Let it do its thing.

Step 4

Check back in 15 minutes to verify that the water has not started fizzing and is clearer. It’s possible that the water is still glowing a bright blue or green. If so, it means that it’s still functioning.

Drain the sink once the fizzing stops, and the water color has faded. Use cool water to rinse the sink and then wipe it clean using a sponge or microfiber cloth.

This trick is great for guests who are visiting and need to quickly clean their bathroom sinks.
