Step 1
The material of your steering wheel will determine the type of cleaning solution you choose. There are many materials that can be used to make car steering wheels, including faux leather, plastic and wooden. Before using any product on the steering wheel, make sure you inspect it. The steering wheel’s appearance can be damaged if you use the wrong cleaning products.
Use an all-purpose cleaner if your steering wheel is made from plastic or faux leather. If your steering wheel is made from wood materials, you can use a wood polish. Step 2
Spray the cleaning solution onto the microfiber towel. It is not a good idea to spray the cleaning solution directly onto your steering wheel as it could get stuck behind the wheels.

Next, place the towel onto the wheel and start cleaning. To clean the entire wheel, rotate the towel 360°. You should cover the entire circumference.
You can scrub the steering wheel if you see any dirt or grime. You should not use too much pressure when cleaning the steering wheel as this can cause damage to the material’s colors. Remember to clean the center of your wheel.
Step 4
Light dirt can be lifted using the steps above. You will need to scrub the steering wheel more thoroughly to remove deep-seated dirt and dust. This step will require a cleaner, a soft interior brush, or a toothbrush.
Spray the cleaner onto the brush, and start cleaning the wheel. You can scrub the wheel in small circular motions until it bubbles. Use a damp cloth to remove dirt. Continue this process until you have covered the entire wheel.
Step 5
Use a clean, damp cloth. You can wring out excess water if you need it. Use the wet cloth to clean the areas. You want to get rid of any dirt or cleaner. You can also use paper towels if you don’t have enough cleaning cloths.

Use a microfiber towel to dry the steering wheel. Do not let the cleaner sit on the steering wheel for too long. Use the microfiber towel to wipe off the cleaner after you have wiped the steering wheel with water.

This step is optional. If you have a steamer, this is an optional step. Turn on the steamer by filling it with distilled water.
